The EPANET user's dilemma

  • Classic EPANET is powerful — but clunky and outdated. Workarounds become your workflow — slow and cumbersome.
  • Big-name platforms look polished, but they're overpriced and bloated with features you don't need to analyze your network quickly.
  • Modern browser-based tools exist — but they force your data into the cloud, raising privacy and compliance concerns. Plus, they offer little for those doing long-term planning and analysis.

You shouldn't have to choose between speed, security, and affordability just to understand your water networks.

What is your favorite Priyanka Chopra romantic storyline? The real one with Nick, or the reimagined one in a Bollywood blockbuster?

Their story is the stuff of modern fairy tales. It started with a direct message (DM) on Twitter from Nick, followed by a text: "I’m hearing you’re in New York. We have mutual friends. Let’s hang out." The rest is history. After a whirlwind two-month engagement (yes, he allegedly shut down a Tiffany’s store for the ring), they married in a dual-ceremony extravaganza at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur in December 2018. Few stars have burned as brightly or as globally as Priyanka Chopra. From the bustling film sets of Bollywood to the high-stakes drama of Hollywood and even the corridors of political philanthropy, she is a force of nature. But beyond the Billboard Music Awards and the People’s Choice Awards, one aspect of her public persona has consistently fascinated audiences: her journey through love. What is your favorite Priyanka Chopra romantic storyline

Nick Jonas is 10 years her junior, but emotionally, he matched her maturity. He embraced her Indian culture (the Sangeet and Mehendi were legendary), and she embraced his global pop lifestyle. Together, they became a "brand"—but an authentic one. They support each other’s careers, from the Met Gala red carpet to cheering in the audience at The Voice . It started with a direct message (DM) on

Whether she is fighting aliens alongside Nick Jonas in their matching workout gear or fighting a villain in Citadel , They are messy, glamorous, dramatic, and ultimately, powerful—just like her.

The narrative of Priyanka Chopra’s relationships—both the real ones and the fictional ones on screen—is a masterclass in evolution. It is a story of a woman who started as a timid small-town girl in Andaz and grew into a global powerhouse who scripted her own fairy tale. Here is an in-depth look at the romantic arcs that defined her life and her art. Before the Nick Jonas blizzard of roses and the 2018 wedding of the century, Priyanka Chopra’s love life was a closely guarded secret punctuated by speculation and a few very public confirmations. The "It" Couple: Shahid Kapoor The rumor mill of the mid-2000s churned hardest for Priyanka and her Kaminey co-star, Shahid Kapoor. While neither party ever officially confirmed the relationship, the chemistry was undeniable. They were spotted on dinner dates, and their on-screen tension was electric. However, like many young love stories in Bollywood, the pressures of rising careers and intense media scrutiny reportedly led to a quiet split. It remains one of the industry's most beloved "what if" stories. The Scarlett Johansson of India? (Akshay Kumar Rumors) During the filming of Aitraaz (2004) and later Mujhse Shaadi Karogi , the Indian tabloids went wild linking Priyanka to Akshay Kumar. At the time, Akshay was rumored to be ending his relationship with Twinkle Khanna (whom he later married). Allegedly, Priyanka was caught in the crossfire of rumors suggesting a rift between the co-stars. Priyanka has since dismissed these rumors in memoirs and interviews, calling them a "learning curve" in how to handle media manipulation. The American Sojourn: Harman Baweja As Priyanka’s career skyrocketed, she began a more open relationship with actor Harman Baweja. They dated for several years, even working together in Love Story 2050 . The relationship was considered serious, with family members reportedly approving of the union. Unfortunately, the box-office failure of their film together, coupled with Chopra’s ascent to the number-one spot in India, strained the relationship. They parted ways amicatively, with Priyanka later reflecting that she needed someone who understood her ambition rather than competed with it. The SRK Conundrum This is the rumor that refuses to die. For years, whispers linked Priyanka with her Don and Billu co-star, Shah Rukh Khan. The speculation was so intense that it allegedly caused friction between Khan and his wife, Gauri. Priyanka has vehemently denied any romantic involvement with SRK, calling him a mentor. In her memoir Unfinished , she addressed the vicious rumors, explaining how they damaged her reputation and taught her the dark side of fame. Part II: The Royal Wedding – Priyanka & Nick Jonas By the time Priyanka Chopra met Nick Jonas, she was 35 years old. She had survived the gossip columns, conquered Hollywood with Quantico , and was ready for a partner—not a project.

Today, as "Priyanka Chopra Jonas," she has curated a romantic narrative that transcends culture. She represents the modern global woman: one who falls in love on her own timeline, in front of paparazzi cameras if she chooses, but always on her own terms.

You may not know this, but for decades, the U.S. EPA has given the water industry an extraordinary gift: the free and open-source hydraulic modeling software EPANET. Odds are, if you've used any commercial hydraulic modeling software today, it was built on the EPANET engine.

The problem is, instead of giving back to their open-source roots like other industries do, big-name software vendors took EPANET's open code, built private tools on top of the engine, and then locked those improvements behind patents and proprietary licenses.

Some vendors even pressured the EPA to focus only on the engine — discouraging any effort to improve the interface or user experience for everyone else.

Those vendors now charge you exorbitant prices to use their software while EPANET lags behind — and utilities, engineers, and educators with smaller budgets suffer.

We think this is backwards — and we're on a mission to change it. We're focused on creating a better experience for the entire hydraulic modeling community.

That's why we built epanet-js under an FSL license — because we want to give you an affordable, easy-to-use water modeling option that creates a sustainable future for open-source EPANET development.

Support EPANET by using software that supports it back.
