Log back in. Go to Status > Device Information to verify the new firmware version.
| Error Message | Likely Cause | Solution | |---------------|--------------|----------| | "Firmware incompatible with hardware" | You downloaded a version for a different hardware revision (e.g., 14ED.A vs 10ED.A). | Find the correct file matching your hardware version. | | "Upload failed: File too large" | The firmware image is corrupted or for a different device. | Re-download from a trusted source. Verify file size (should be 30-45MB). | | Router stuck on power LED (blinking) | Update interrupted or wrong bootloader. | Use the TFTP recovery method (Method 2 above). | | Web interface missing upgrade tab | ISP firmware is locked. | Use the hidden URL: 192.168.100.1/html/upgrade.html or enable telnet and flash via command line. | | ONT loses sync with OLT | New firmware changed GPON serial number or password. | Contact your ISP to re-authenticate the ONT on their OLT (Optical Line Terminal). | Should You Use Custom/Unlocked Firmware? The internet is full of "unlocked" or "universal" HG8145V5 firmware that claims to convert an ISP-locked router into an open one. Proceed with extreme caution.
Factory reset the device (press the reset pinhole for 10 seconds) and restore only your essential settings from backup. This clears old configuration remnants. Method 2: Emergency Recovery via TFTP (For bricked or stubborn units) If your web interface is inaccessible or the update fails, use this method.
A progress bar will appear. The router may reboot once or twice. This takes 3–5 minutes. Wait until the power LED stabilizes (solid green).
